ADDENDUM

TURFFONTEIN RACOURSE, 29 APRIL 2023.

RACE 5:

Trainer B B Ruiters was charged with a contravention of Rule 72.1.45, in that he presented PRINCE OF KILDARE as HALBERDIER, which was the HORSE carded to race and was subsequently withdrawn from the race in question. In assessing the circumstances of the matter, it was established that PRINCE OF KILDARE and HALBERDIER were carded to race in Race 1 on 20 April 2023, and were swopped after they were correctly identified by Officials. Consequently, both these horses were disqualified in terms of Rules 68.3.5 and 69.6. The unique circumstances surrounding the matter were carefully considered in arriving at penalty. Trainer B B Ruiters signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R15,000 was imposed of which R5,000 is wholly suspended for a period of one (1) year on condition that the Trainer is not found guilty of a contravention of Rule 72.1.45 during this period.
