......it would be interesting to know how many horses they actually now have in the syndicate....as they so far have bought very well..... and added to that are running a fair amount of leased fillies that bring down their average spend
.....and looking at the results thus far could be less than break even......as for every 10 horses your average monthly keep is conservatively a ZAR150000/month average purchase price per horse R300K.....now if they have 30 the keep is ZAR4BAR so far and spent say ZAR9BAR to acquire them....

What planet are you on? They cannot be close to breaking even. If they had had 200 wins they would still be in the red. Tax write-off, marketing in the sense of weight of horses running in their colours, and a misguided sense that this will contribute to saving racing. Along with the charity donations to GC probably the main reasons for the "investment".

100 wins at an average stake of R150 000 - let's be generous and include the place money - equals R15M. If they have 80 horses in training - there's a lot more - at an average of R10 000 a month - again being generous - equals R800 000 a month and R9 600 000 a year. Add to that Delpech and all the other team members costs and its a black hole financially. Same as for any other owner.

......doubt if Hollywood have as bigger numbers in training and have been rather frugal in purchases....up until recently really pushing the boat out at nationals this year and got 12 ....but predictably around an average of ZAR300K....recon that they quietly retired plenty to make a more conservative headcount.....they seem to be targeting pretty decent specimens and what ever they pay Delpech and whoever is assisting him ...is well worth it .....after all if they are still in the red.....that hole is providing pretty decent product for all of us to fall into......:ohmy:
