Very competitive racing - won't be surprised if another carry-over in the P6 - especially with the last leg.

One that I'm including is American Star in the 6th - looks well weighted here on his effort behind Billy Bowlegs

12:00 Race 01: 4RACING WELCOMES YOU MAIDEN PLATE (For all Maidens. R15 000 Win bonus ROA Members) To be run on standside track turf over approximately 1000 metres

1 Trip To States .. Making track appearance after 380 days of long layoff and in all likelihood will be needing the run.

2 Empress Game .. Red hot fav, filly taking on the boys but not getting any weight advantage as 3yo and taking on 2yo's, earlier both runs she was the fav and has taken lot of money down the drain, in the running hesitates a lot to pass horses which is not a good sign.

3 Breath Of Magic .. poor show so far.

4 Chocolate Bom .. First timer, very poor breeding credentials for sprints.

5 Strewn Sky .. First timer, not that encouraging bloodlines for sprints.

6 Tyson The Brave .. has run decently in the 3 starts so far, bred for sprints, has bagged advantageous outside draw and has every chance.

7 Wings Within Me .. First timer, filly taking on the boys and gets the 2.5kgs sex allowance, first foal of dam who has slightly confusing form for sprints, getting slightly backed overnight from longer odds which is highly confusing, drawn on the inside which is considered disadvantageous. Too much of a confusion over this 2yo filly making her debut and preferring to ignore.


Small field with most of them not looking good and in all probability is a match race between 2 Empress Game and 6 Tyson The Brave, slightly inclined to lean towards 6 Tyson The Brave.

1 Smith And Wesson .. This gelding has been very lucky to win a few races, some horses ran into dead end chasing him, was carrying low weights then and now has to shoulder a hefty 60kgs and will have to see how he runs and whether lady luck will smile on him again is a million dollar question. Real acid test for him today as drawn inside which is considered disadvantageous.

2 Cosmic Star .. This well bred gelding has won twice over straight tracks and faltered when running over the bend, is half brother to the well performed Chyavana and expected to go close as drawn favourably to the outside.

3 Wings Of Nike .. Can play a minor role.

4 Rainbow Reward .. Ran like a bullet train just 6 days ago recording good fractions but feel the gap of 6 days is too short to give similar credible performance. But if fit and well then can give everyone a big scare.

5 Lord Varys .. In the handicapper's iron grip at the moment.


Again a smaller field and feel 2 Cosmic Star is the right horse to land the spoils. If time permits then a few pointers about remainder of the card later on.

1 Golden Sickle .. Filly has given credible performances in western cape and then in PE before changing stables, dam was a sprinter of repute in her days but has not produced foals worth mentioning, since is leading the betting market can be considered.

2 Fennec Fox .. Has somewhat ok form to warrant inclusion in backend of exotics.

3 Benguela Cove .. Very poor recent form.

5 Insatiable .. Front running filly who gets caught and cannot be relied upon.

6 Clean Living .. Slightly poor form in the last 2 runs.

7 Damostar .. Filly broke the ice at the 4th attempt in good style, is a full sister to the well performed Feather Boa and with jockey S'Manga Khumalo retaining the ride is set to run a big race.

8 Mia Regina .. Weighted to take revenge on 10 Mercer Girl who is totally unfancied in the betting market.

9 Red Carpet Girl .. Is slow out the gates most of the times and if getting a good jump then can run into places.

10 Mercer Girl .. Looks a bit tough even with low weight on its back.

11 Feather The Nest .. Not that encouraging recent form.

Would make this a match race between 1 Golden Sickle and 7 Damostar.
