WHO CAN I TURN TO ?
1 year 10 months ago - 1 year 10 months ago
Good morning all as we head for another cracking sporting weekend and I am doing an early post, so please check scratchings and latest betting before having a punt.
It's the Gold Cup from Greyville on Sunday with massive pools and a must try Pick 6 and don't forget the Hollywood punters competition.
Who can I turn to ?
I will be listening to the guys at W to W for some guidance but it's my/your call at the end of the day and my early thoughts on the pick 6 are as follows:
Leg one: Bless My Stars is a good sort but will have to add a few others .
Leg two: Lucky Lad could be a banker but if you have the budget add Main Defender and Sandringham Summit.
Leg three: Gimme Me A Prince could be a banker with only danger Isivunguvungu.
Leg four: Future Pearl is another potential banker if not we have to go wide.
Leg five : The Cup is the interesting race as many make See It Again the one to beat and on form its understandable. I am sticking with Princess Calla but suggest you might load this race.
Leg six: The ninth and final leg is a field race and hope Dolcezza can win for the lads.
There is many superb facilities on offer at the track plus Douglas Whyte will be making an appearance. Note! Richard Fourie could be the make or break jockey on the big day.
Who can I turn to ?
To find out why the words "preventative maintenance " was never included in the ANC handbook?
Our old friend Zuma is extending his stay with his Soviet Union friends which is mind boggling and we can only hope he eventually does the honorable thing by PUTIN back the money.
Who can I turn to ?
To find the winner of the King George from Ascot on Saturday.
This is a high quality field and I will have to stick to the Obrien/Moore combination who have proved that they are "simply the best".
However every horse in the race is capable of winning, King of Steel in a beast, Emily Upjohn from Gosden stable has very impressive form.
The trainers of Pyledriver and Hukum are very bullish, Desert Crown was an impressive Derby winner.
Luxembourg and Westover are top class and available at 20/1 such is the quality of the field.
AUGUSTA RODIN although not that impressive winning the Irish Derby can show the Epsom Derby win was the real deal.
I understand we could have severe weather conditions and this race could be 5/1 the field.
Who can I turn to: whilst the planet is burning?
We are using blankets and a gas fire 🔥 and concerns about how hot SA will be this summer.
Who can I turn to on Friday.
Weather permitting we might eventually have a race on grass for Humble but he drew 14 from 14 in P.E.
Zietsman continues to do a wonderful job with his limited stock and lack of owners and we turn to him to produce another decent run from Humble Tune 🤞
A concern is that Chase is on the stable companion and he has recently been doing Richard Fourie impressions by riding like a demon.
However let's have an ew on the Tune.
As far as the thread title, it's a song from the late, great Anthony "Tony" Bennett. He was 98 years young.
He was one of my mum and dad's favourites and many a Friday night the cocktail cabinet would be opened and plenty of Tony's songs became a sing along.
In fact when we had the Hangover pub, my karaoke songs were "Oh Well" by Fleetwood Mac/Peter Green and Tony's "I left my heart in San Francisco".by Tony 🙏
Good Punting

Never thought I'd say this - but I'm too young to appreciate Tony Bennett
Thoughts on the P6 -
Leg 1 - Not that straight-forward imo - I like a bit of Dawnofanewday
Leg 2: I think Main Defender is the right one - obviously Lucky Lad a danger - even though he is bred to enjoy the extra ground, he needs to go another 400m; not too sure about Sandringham Summit from that draw
Leg 3: Gimme a Prince hard to beat over the 1200 from a good draw
Leg 4: Future Pearl has many of these held - still a biggish weight for an almost 4yr old; Aragosta well weighted but many of these have had busy seasons - so maybe one needs to consider most of these - unless taking a chance on FP
Leg 5: Many of these have had a busy season as well - so Zapatillas racing fresh could make them run
Leg 6: I prefer Rascova from Distant Winter
