HANDICAPPING RATINGS UPDATE 08 AUGUST

• East Cape Paddock Stakes (Listed)
AND WE DANCED remains unchanged on a merit rating of 103 after winning the Listed East Cape Paddock Stakes for fillies and mares over 1600m on the Fairview Polytrack on Friday 4 August. The race meeting was originally scheduled for the turf course but was moved to the Polytrack because of weather-related reasons.
The Handicappers believed that AND WE DANCE herself made for the best line horse when assessing this race, hence her unchanged rating.
The only ratings raise was for runner-up UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, who was picked up from 92 to 100, while the solitary drop was for 3rd finisher WHO DO YOU LOVE, who was trimmed from 100 to 99 to keep her lower than the runner-up.
• Memorial Mile (Listed)
GRAZINGINTHEGRASS remains unaltered on a mark of 111 after he won the Listed Memorial Mile over 1600m on the Fairview Polytrack on Friday. The Handicappers were of the unanimous opinion that GRAZINGINTHEGRASS himself made for the best line horse when assessing this race, which explains his unchanged rating. In assessing the race this way 3rd placed KHAYA’S HOPE also runs to his mark, effectively making him a line horse as well and leaving him unchanged on a rating of 107.
There were ratings increases for 2nd placed BUSH TRACKER, who is up from 104 to 108, and for 5th finisher BOLD RESOLVE, who goes up from 93 to 96.
Four horses received a rating’s drop. 4th placed CASTLETOWN is down from 103 to 100, SAFARI BLUE was trimmed from 101 to 100, TARANTINO is down to 98 from 99 and lastly PROPHET drops from 102 to 100.
