I have been punting from a very early age. Had some good days but many a bad days. Recently , i have been a slave for punishment. Addicted to the game. I have many a times heard the phrase "horse cannot loose", most of the time they are the brave ones, chasing the other horses home. lol

Jackson.... take that phrase with a " pinch of salt

If I've heard that once I've heard it a thousand times....... esp. from jocks, scheming trainers, " punters who have good GRAFT "

Just do YOUR OWN THING.......... back wat u like....... by all means back OTHER peoples selections....... but DON'T go for broke on the...... " this can't get beat today.... good thing "

I've had the balls to bet on a 100/ 1 shot against CHARLES DICKENS........ & came out SMILING........ ALL the way to the bank !!!

I have a choice daily. Pay for golf club membership and rounds of golf plus booze or play horses.
I have a choice daily go to Montecasino and play Blackjack or play horses.
i have a choice daily pay for a prostitute or play horses.
I have a choice daily but some weed and coke or play horses.

Every day i choose horses. So i can safely say gambling on horses has kept me on the straight an narrow.

There are times when I think about an old Cream song Born Under a bad Sign

:" if it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all "

Good Punting 👍

If the gambling board reads this thread, ABC Supports responsible gambling

If they don't, we're elbows deep and love it!

It's generally regarded as a fact that the 'average' (no disrespect intended) punter will not win on the horses over the long term.
If you enjoy a gamble why not try sport?
There are not many people who do not have an interest (and sometimes a remarkable level of expertise) in one sport or another.
You may often have to take shorter prices but then you might develope a winning habit which makes the activity that much more pleasant. You also get more entertainment/torture for your money rather than have your head spinning as one race follows another.
If you are the type that feels 80/90 minutes is too long between bets then try betting in running on sport where you can adjust your position whenever you want.
There's something for everybody and you don't need to keep bumping your head on an activity when another might work for you.
As much as many people tell me they 'love horses' I often wonder whether they would even give the sport a second glance if there was not betting available on it.

Good morning Garrick

Glad you are still alive and kicking.

We should also consider that an even grand gives you R1000 and not R940

Would love to hear your thoughts of the World Cup as I guess many will be taking bets especially with the handicap option.

.....I have almost weaned myself from punting.....my investment lately is minimal.....have not bothered to even fix my Crenova decoder situation and do open and download cards and check a few peds.....but the appeal is fading very fast.. I say leave racing to the Kings.... it is no place for the average joe ....especially when there are massive improvements in form when top trainers chuck out nicely bred battlers and they suddenly become smarter sorts in new environments.... . and pretty average sorts look like champions.... until they are transferred to smarter trainers and never show that very smart prior form.... .

The Impact of Gambling Addiction
Gambling addiction can have significant negative consequences for those affected, as well as their loved ones. It can lead to financial ruin, as people spend money they cannot afford to lose on gambling. Additionally, it can cause strained relationships, as loved ones become frustrated and worried about the person’s behavior. Gambling addiction can also lead to legal problems, as people engage in illegal activities to fund their habit.
