NEWS "This Is It" ........RWC timešŸ†

Good evening all. The RWC is eventually with us. 🤘

It should be a wonderful start with the hosts, France (9/10) vs. the All Blacks (11/10), in a very close contest.

I slightly favour the All Blacks.

Before I touch on sport, just a mention of the famous speech from Greg Bortz.

I went to some lengths to explain the stance of ABC before I posted the reply from Greg, which we had discussed in the morning.Ā

The bottom line is that we had pressure from the Peters Clan supporters to express their side of the story in reference to the speech.Ā

Whether the poster's name was Uncle Micky or Micky Mouse, we were aware there was a concern and felt it fair to give another side of the story as the source was not some random, nameless poster on ABC.

I reiterate that it's not easy making a call at times. We have our critics, but our experience has stood the test of time, and we get more right than wrong and appreciate your continued support and participation via the site.Ā

Remember, we have a PM (private message) facility on the site where registered members can communicate outside of public view.

Now, back to the fun part of running the site:Ā

Note! My prices and handicap spreads are flexible depending on your choice of turf accountant.Ā

Racing:Ā

Sat at Leopardstown, we have the Irish Champion StakesĀ

Where King of Steel (11/4 ) meets Auguste Rodin (11/4) I favour the Obrien horse to show his best form.

TAHIYRA (slight money on) looks PTP in the other group one.

DIEGO VELAZQUEZ for Obrien and Moore another good one.

They also have Victoria Road and Adelaide River with good chances .

Haydock, where SHAQUILLE (also slight money on)Ā  looks another banker in the Betfair sprint.Ā

Kempton, where PYLEDRIVER will try and promote his chances for the ARC.

On Sunday, we have HIGHFIELD PRINCESS 6/4 running at the CurraghĀ

KYPRIOS also makes his comeback in the Irish St LegerĀ

YLANG YLANG also runs and is a good sort.

ARC trial at LongchampĀ

Will update over the weekend.Ā

Rugby:Ā

I did mention the France vs All Blacks game above.

Other options this weekendĀ

ITALY, IRELAND, AUSTRALIA, and JAPAN all look like no contests, but that's where the handicap makes it interesting.Ā

You can have in the region of 30 points start for Namibia vs. Italy.

60 points for Romania vs. Ireland.Ā

20 points for Georgia vs AustraliaĀ

12 points for Chile vs. Japan.

I do need help from the Rugby experts.

There must be a good punt above where the bookies have it wrong.Ā

England vs. Argentina is also very tight, with a slight preference for the Pumas.

Wales vs. Fiji where Wales are money on, but 5 points start to Fiji might be the answer.Ā

Then the big one is South Africa vs ScotlandĀ

I will take the 10-point start, but I am not sure it will be enough. The pub will be open and busy, and I will be wearing my "see you Jimmy hat" and will be totally outnumbered.Ā

The Boks are in the region of 7/2 to lift the trophy and WSB have 8/1 to win all their games.

On the subject of the Hangover, we will be there again early on Friday to see if the BIG GREY can win the second race in PE.

We are still battling with service delivery in our area with no rubbish collection, massive power cuts and again no water!

It's incredible the amount of damage that can be achieved in 30 years by ineffective leadership  😢

Not to mention crime, unemployment, roads, infrastructure, post office, hospitals, the state of the CBDs, railroads etc., etc.

I can't actually think of one thing that has improved?Ā

Possibly the accommodation, salary and private security for our born leaders.Ā

Maybe I just feel bad as we head into another 4 and a half hours darkness with still so sign of water supply being restored.Ā

Plus I am rushing to complete this post, please excuse any mistakes.Ā

Good Punting šŸ‘Ā

Tread carefully, any "big" handicaps (say) +30 are very risky. especially in the first game. For Me, the teams are certainly not play to the handicap, once the feel they in a position where they shouldn't lose, they will start making substitutions, to "save" players for the next round to avoid injuries.

Why bet why not just sit back and enjoy the game. You guys can’t go a day without having a punt.

The teams with decent penalty kickers, to avoid total embarrassment. For me, the thing that matters in the head-to-head clashes, if you beat your main rival for top spot in the Group, whether you win the remaining Group games by 5 points or 50 points really doesn't matter, as long as you finish top of the Group.

The object of the exercise would be to try and minimise injuries to key players, and try and give as many players a run as possible should a key player get injured.

New Zealand were very fortunate when they won the Cup in New Zealand. and the kicker got injured before the Final, and they called in a replacement who was skateboarding (open to correction on this), something along those lines.

I wouldn't say i am compulsive, i don't bet every day whether on horses, soccer, etc, just think New Zealand are worth a bet against France.

From what i have seen in the warm up games, i think the Northern hemisphere countries are not so strong as the South - just my opinion, we'll know after the Final.

Chicken although this is the Voice of the Punter site.

This thread as many others were started to generate some comments or views about the RWC .

If you punt or not it would have been more constructive to have your view about the games rather your concerns of who is having a punt or not as your rugby knowledge is probably better than most and certainly mine .

I never meant it as I wrote it What I meant was that it takes off the pleasure of watching and supporting because of the concern of your punt coming in or not
