# Turffontein Inside Saturday 10 September 2023 – Comments by David Thiselton
RACE 1
Preview: CHASING HAPPINESS (7) is by Rafeef and is a half-sister to two horses who performed well early in their careers in the strong centre of Cape Town, so she could be the one to side with against seemingly uninspiring opposition. BEST INTENTIONS (3) is on the up and could be the best of those to have raced. ZOOM LADY (1) has shown some promise, including finishing a 5,50 length fourth in a Listed race in just her second start, but she was off for a year at one stage and has not stepped up to the plate since. (David Thiselton 7-3-1)
RACE 2
Preview: MY LADY SOUL (9) ran a fair second on debut over 1200m on this course and now has a better draw with Lerena up over a step up in trip this Master Of My Fate filly should appreciate. SHAMPIMPI (3) ran well on debut over 1160m and has run two decent races over this category of trip since then, so she has a good chance from a good draw. CALL TO GLORY (1) is very well bred being by Kingman out of Met winner Smart Call, but he has been disappointing, although she now drops back to the trip of her best runs so has a shout, although she has a tricky draw. (David Thiselton 9-3-1)
RACE 3
Preview: DUNGEONS (6) has some decent form against decent sorts and can get it right here from a plum draw. SAGE KING (5) is drawn in pole over an ideal trip and a repeat of his last start should see him involved. HOLOCENE (10) is well drawn and should be thereabouts as usual despite the slight drop in trip. (David Thiselton 6-5-10)
RACE 4
Preview: EYE OF THE PROPHET (3) should be cherry ripe and his last win was over this course and distance under this same rider. WILLIAM ROBERTSON (1) is full of class and this is an ideal trip so he should go close from a good draw. RUNNING RIFLES (9) is enjoying it on the Highveld and can progress further so could run well despite being 4kg under sufferance with Marigold Hotel, who is the best weighted runner. (David Thiselton 3-1-9)
RACE 5
Preview: CLARKSON (4) has a wide draw but does have a good turn of foot, so if able to get cover has a shout, although he will need some luck. ARIVIDICIO (6) is drawn in pole over a suitable trip and in this field should be right there off a currently competitive merit rating. RATTLE BAG (7) is in fine form although against the boys it will be tougher. (David Thiselton 4-6-7)
RACE 6
Preview: ABSOLUTE VALUE (7) looks to be a decent stayer in the making and can continue to progress. ANGEL’S WISH (9) comes from a yard renowned for success in staying events and is drawn well over a suitable trip. AMERICAN GRAYSON (6) looks to be a useful stayer in the making and from pole position could claim a hattrick. (David Thiselton 7-9-6)
RACE 7
Preview: ROMEO’S MAGIC (3) has won three times under Gavin Lerena and is competitively merit rated and distance suited so can do well from a tricky draw of seven. BLACK LIGHTNING (2) copped a maximum eight point raise last time when winning easily over 1700m, but he is coming into his own and from pole position could be right there again. FLAG BEARER (4) is better than his last two starts and with Richard Fourie up is an interesting runner from a tricky draw of 9 out of 12. (David Thiselton 3-2-4)
RACE 8
Preview: LAW OF SUCCESS (5) is a progressive sort who was raised five points for his last win but he is drawn well and is only off a 72 merit rating so can progress further. TURBO POWER (1) won well second time out on the HWB Greyville poly and he has a fair draw over a trip which should be suitable and a 2,5kg claimer rides. AMPERSAND (3) is in good form and off a three point higher mark could be involved from pole position. (David Thiselton 5-1-3)
RACE 9
TUSCAN GOLD (2) has a fair draw over an ideal trip and can go close despite a five point raise for his last win. AMBRYM (3) is promising and after an easy win on debut she could be there despite a wide draw and having to deal with a 88 merit rating. KALAHARI BLUE (1) has a good draw and plenty of ability and he should be cherry ripe.

Race 6: Rule Book , stayers races usually throw results and if this gets some of its earlier staying form , this could go well at a decent price
