LESTER PIGGOTT will be in attendance at Ayr racecourse on Friday as a guest of race sponsor Victor Chandler.
The track's richest race, the Ayr Gold Cup, was one of the few races to elude the eleven times champion jockey during his illustrious career in the saddle.
Piggott rode his first winners at Ayr on September18 1963 when he scored on Snow Vista for Ernie Weymes and completed a double on Wrangle for Sam Hall in the featured Royal Caledonian Hunt Handicap.
He recorded his last victory at the track 22 years later when successful on 11-8 favourite Vienna Belle for trainer John Dunlop.
Piggott said: "It has been a long time since I visited Ayr but I am really looking forward to the day.
"I went up to Musselburgh a few years ago when Victor Chandler sponsored the Scottish Sprint Cup and I always enjoy my trips to Scotland."
Victor Chandler sponsor the second race on the card, a 6f nursery, and spokesman Neil Wilkins said: "We decided to sponsor at Ayr for the first time to give some of our loyal Scottish clients a chance to enjoy a great day out and spend some time in the company of one of racing's greatest figures
