Some interesting stats re rainfall at Kenilworth through winter 2008.

MAY- 312 mm
JUNE-221 mm
JULY-526 mm
AUG-277 mm
SEPT -392 mm

Total of 1728 mm....taking this into account we are lucky to have lost so few meetings through winter.

I was interested to note that Phumelela are going to be scheduling 3 meetings a week from october to April.... so we have a 50% more chance of meetings being washed out / thunder and lightening-erised.... and yep, I know.. you cannot please everybody all the time.. as the Hiveldt tracks are hard and fast in winter... but at least then you are guaranteed to race, whilst maybe losing meetings in the Western cape and sometimes Eastern cape...

We have ongoing rain for days on end in the WC and so the ground becomes saturated whereas Jhb has thunder showers and the course has time to recover. The WC has added some meetings back in nov/dec to make up some of the losses incurred.

But the Vaal is directly in the storm approach path to JHB... and if a storm arrives while a meeting is in progress or about to commence... it can cause the meeting to be abandoned... that is the point I was making... not heavy going... but heavy downpours... is just my opinion anyhow.
