The dire future of Cape Racing
1 year 7 months ago
As we head towards week 11 of the new Racing Calendar Cape Racing continues to be on a death spiral.
So why do i say this.? This is contrary to all the joy joy feelings being espoused on all the various media platforms.
Racing in the WC will shrink to a level of Kenya/Zimababwe/Mauritius unless something is done about the major accumulation of dominance of horses in two Yards.
U will not have a value proposition for Punters if only two trainers exist in the region.
We see many results that are just crap where the wrongin wins from one of the dominant yards. Makes a mockery of form guides.
Season to date
26 Trainers
3 Trainer 43 winners 23 trainers 44 winners
Just an Opinion

......if you delve into the past and would extrapolate similar.....each of the other 3 regions had pretty similar fractions and racing then was thriving....once upon a time in P E 2 trainers dominated and the rest got table scraps.....racing still thrived... ..in Natal similar in the Syd Laird era.... then the Cape with Millard and each racing centre took turns when a training powerhouse rose above all others and grew bigger yards with better stock....to me the situation in the Cape only shows what we have seen go on and on..... although it does not seem likely for others to prevail.... but then again why are there now more non Cape okes queuing to get in there....
