Fairview Turf Friday 22 December 2023 – Comments by Waren LenfernaRace 1: Preview: SEE YOU IN A BIT (9) has solid form, nearly won last time and could be hard to peg back this time. In saying that, she is having her ninth attempt at getting it all right. MARPORI (7) is the one that keeps me interested and is my value selection. She is improving both lengths and position wise every time she comes to the races. I expect her to go very close and is a suggestion for all bets. KYALAMI GIRL (16) has run twice for two seconds but has been rested since February – can run fresh and well. Obvious chance despite the layoff. (Warren Lenferna 9-7-16)
Race 2: Preview: HOODIA (2) kicked on powerfully to catch the eye when finishing second on debut. With natural improvement, he might be hard to beat. STAR PERFORMER (6) was well supported in the betting market last time but let the supporters down. He was not far off the winner Big Unit and can do much better now – respect and include. SONG TO THE MOON (10) should be right there as he surely has a lot more improvement still to offer – include in the quartet. (Warren Lenferna 2-6-10)
Race 3: Preview: MAD WORLD (8 ) made an attractive debut in KZN on the poly track finishing third to Le Premiere. She can improve a ton and has obviously been taken to the Cape because she is thought good enough of to compete there. Bernard Faydherbe gets the ride and they are the firm first suggestion. F EIGHT (3) gets Richard Fourie again – strong place chance and ICE RAIN (11) can serve up better than what she did last time. (Warren Lenferna 8-3-11)
Race 4: Preview: THE NIGHT FERRY (12) improved a lot at the second time of asking and surely has a lot more up the cuff. He rates the one they all have to fear the most. GIVETHATMANABELLS (11) nearly won at huge odds last time. He must be taken seriously for the minor positions today. FOUDRE (5) should get it all right soon and has strong each way claims. A must for all bets and BLUE BAY (1) is making giant strides of improvement and is a must for trifectas and quartets. (Warren Lenferna 12-11-5-1)
Race 5: Preview: UNCONQUERABLE LADY (7) has solid form, ran on powerfully last time and can record her next career victory. She has a light weight to carry and might prove too good here. MONTELINA (8 ) is holding her form strongly and has obvious, strong each way claims. FUN ZONE (4) is another with consistent form and one for the shortlist – should be in the firing line again. There are a few others with chances but the first suggestion is the Candice Bass – Robinson / Craig Zackey horse. (Warren Lenferna 7-8-4)
Race 6: Preview: DOUBLE CHECK (7) is taking time to get it all right again but is running well and never far off the winners. She should go very close to winning and is therefore the firm first choice. MY FLOWER FATE (4) dropped the ball last time when sent to the start as favorite. Ignore that run as her overall form is solid and she has strong each way claims. BROADWAY GIRL (3) is slowly dropping in the ratings and can place. She is the value suggestion for the trifectas and quartets. (Warren Lenferna 7-4-3)
Race 7: Preview: NATYAM (5) has very good form and looks ready to record another victory in the Cape. Stable mate KING PELLES (7) can give plenty cheek and is a serious runner. He can build plenty on his last run which was attractive enough – big runner. TAMARISK TREE (6) and PREVELANCE (4) have got very strong place chances and are natural inclusions for the quartet. Race 8: Preview: HIGHLYCONFIDENTIAL (3) was an impressive victor last time and is selected to follow up. Ignore ONI SAN’S (5) last run against stiff opposition – she can do much better here – each way chance. THE CHARLESTON (4) is a must for trifectas and quartets. (Warren Lenferna 3-5-4)
Race 9: Preview: YELLOWPORSCHEROAD (3) is seldom far off the action and has a bright chance. PORQUE TE VAS (2) nearly won last time at long odds, has solid overall form and can threaten. PLAZA ACCORD (10) could be anything – respect and include. (Warren Lenferna 3-2-10)
