Well I suppose one would rather have a feature winner (Juliet Tango) than winning a Maiden (Thunee Player) - still think a strange decision  to move the horses to a KZN trainer - but the owner will say it's money in the bank

These horses are being trained in Randjies... Saying no more

Yes - heard that the trainer (long-time friend apparently) may move to Gauteng - to each his own, but I think this owner has a history with moving horses

This thread reminds me of the 'good old days' when every race meeting had healthy discussion .... definitely adds value to the racing imo.

I have never believed in MR so I use it as a very mild guideline especially in feature races where there is form from different centers

Understood, however you've got to rate a horse against something, whatever that thing is, surely. If according to your ratings, you make them much closer, then you on the right one.

I have a simple approach.... fitness, C&D suitability, Draw, form. Then I have a potential short list which I then look at times, weights, collateral form etc.  Works for me...... sometimes

......well said Magi....enjoyed this disection but stayed out as I fancid what looked like value in Coldhardstare for a place and exactas....one other thing against Dyce is the float trip from the Vaal....when all looks equal.... better to go for the home advantage....wink

I also thought Thunee Player would be hard to beat - but in hindsight, why would one move the horse to a KZN trainer but run in in Gauteng - and then the ex-trainer's runner beat it - I thought the horse perhaps needs blinkers - but a poor ride imo - why did he not come to the outside of runners - anyway that's that

.....looks like this owner wants to be very hands on.....may be angling to even train someday.....has got some smart stock and already got off the mark.....
