Zenyatta

Still unbeaten 9 out of 9 and candidate for horse of the year in the states according to the commentators. Cocoa Beach (Dubai runner last season) tried hard and finished a good second
Shes a seriously good looking beast of a horse. I am glad that I stayed awake to witness such greatness. Thank god there was no Big Brown Triple Crown drama.
Zarkova vs Zenyatta - what a mouth watering race that could have been.

Zenyatta is a freak in more ways than one.
She got to the races late in life. When she walks onto the track, with her right leg flailing one way and the left another, one can see why.
As talented as she is, she is a crooked legged.
When she first steps out on the track she moves very funky behind. She warms up out of it.
I daresay that if she had to spend her life racing on dirt she would already be retired.

I did notice the way she walked. Her back legs seemed to be wide apart compared to the companion that she was walking with. Looked very strange, almost like a muscle bound body builder in a lot of ways.
One of our good horses, JJ the Jetplane apparently also did not have the best legs. These animals never seem to stop amazing. I must say that she (Zenyatta) really looked like something special and she had a larger than life presence about her.
Great to watch and enjoy.

Following Curlins dissapointing (but good run, no excuses) Zenyatta must be horse of the year.
What do you think?

In 2008:
Zenyatta won 4 Gr1's and 3 Gr2's, all against fillies (from 7 starts).
Curlin won 4 Gr1's, placed 2nd and 4th in Gr1's, and won a handicap (from 7 starts), all in open company.
Very tough call. I don't think Curlin's 4th should discount his 4 Gr1 wins in open company. His two losses were his two attempts not on dirt. I think people will be unhappy with the choice whichever way it goes. My vote is for Curlin.

I think we're talking about two different things.
The original post mentioned Zarkova v Zenyatta - my vote Zarkova, no doubt.
A later post mentioned Curlin v Zenyatta for Horse of the Year. Obviously Zarkova not eligible for that in the USA.

Sorry Sabre - I thought it was for the 'World' Horse of the year - not just US, Jim.

Sorry Jamster I am the confusd one - the arc has just been run. I thought that you were talking about the next Arc. You meant "Watch the arc" past tense not "watch the Arc" future tense.
