Need new owners - Bring back Claiming Races

There is a shortage of horses in training for sale - New owners are often loath to wait months or years for a baby to run - We need claiming races so that owners that want to get into racing quickly can do so having seen the athlete compete ..Key Facts About Claiming Races in Horse Racing
  • Definition of Claiming Race: A type of horse race where all horses running can be bought at a predetermined price.
  • Claiming Process: Interested buyers can place a claim on a horse before the race starts, with ownership transferring after the race, regardless of the horse’s performance.
  • Purpose of Claiming Races: These races level the playing field by grouping horses of similar value and ability, and they facilitate dynamic horse ownership.
  • Outcome for Claimed Horses: After being claimed, the horse goes under the care of its new owner, including training, upkeep, and future racing engagements.

OK. Mr H, do I understand that It’s also an opportunity for owners to weight their horses irrespective of form, MR, number of wins, etc?

In America, claiming races, is part and parcel of their races.

in my lifetime only seen very few claiming races in the 1990s.

The most famous being Sleek Wine, who was bought in a claiming race and won the Garden Province a couple months later.

Claiming races are usually the weakest betting races imo

Especially when horses are over valued to set one up

I won a number of claiming races at Old Newmarket track in Alberton.Handicapped your own horses by value of claim to weight carried. Pulled a major coup by handicapping clearly the better horse of a low claim therefore a low weight.
And no one claimed him!
Great racing and backbone of Racing in USA.
Maybe Hollywood should introduce them.
