Taking nothing away from Richard as he is a top class jockey and must rate in the top 10 jockeys ever in SA.....
But could he have beaten the record in the days when Delpech was riding?
Then we had plenty top jocks riding every day and a trainer could be happy putting anyone of twenty plus jockeys on their horses.
Today most want Richard up as they haven't a big selection of quality jockeys to choose from.
I said this long ago that Richard is the best SA jockey to never win the title but what Delpech did against far superior competitors must never be forgotten.
