1ST HOLLYWOODBETS DURBAN JULY LOG

1ST HOLLYWOODBETS DURBAN JULY LOG
Herewith the first Hollywoodbets Durban July Log as issued today by Gold Circle. The Log was determined by Messrs Lennon Maharaj (Senior Handicapper), Raf Sheik and Graeme Hawkins and their deliberation was overseen by Manfred Rohwer, Chairman of the Gold Circle Racing Committee.
The panel considered Merit Ratings, Current Form and Graded Race performances in arriving at their decision and the issuing of the Log is to provide a clear indication to all stakeholders and racing fans as to where each horse fits into the pecking order with just 53 days to go before the running of the R5-million Hollywoodbets Durban July at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday 6 July.
In a genuine effort to be as transparent as possible, the Log is issued on the basis that if the HDJ was run today, these are the horses that would make up the final field. But there are still a number of key races scheduled in the coming weeks, presenting an opportunity for horses to improve their chances of being considered for the final field at the time of final declarations at 11:00 on Monday 24 June.
Forty-five horses stood their ground at the first acceptance stage yesterday with the second declaration stage set for Monday 3 June. A notable scratching was the unbeaten 3-year-old filly, Gimme A Nother who is destined to continue her racing career in America.
Flag Man was the only additional supplementary entry after his eye-catching win on Saturday, but he will need to perform well in the Daily News 2000 to get into the final HDJ field.
There is a final supplementary entry stage which closes at 11:00 on Tuesday 18 June. The Log reflects the top twenty horses in order of preference and the next six in alphabetical order.

Silver Sanctuary quite low down in my opinion. 2nd in 2 grade 1 and a grade 2 and 3rd in the another grade 2 all in last 4 races.

Early thoughts
Fav still looks good
Not sure the plans for Main Defender?
Lucky Lad a big price
Without Question I thought would have won last year 🤔
Don't fancy See It Again

Two horses shortened dramatically since the betting opened - Green With Envy was trading at 35/1 in Feb (33/10 now) and Oriental Charm was trading at 200/1 on Saturday morning (25/1 now) - luckily I took both those bets (OC for a place) - others that I managed to snare at longish odds - Purple Pitcher at 50/1 (now 25/1) and William Iron Arm at 45/1 (now 28/1) - I also backed Mucho Dinero (but that one is drifting due to his moderate effort in the 1900) and Without Question - unfortunately a few I thought would run and looked value at the odds (but fell away) - Pacaya, Billy Bowlegs (what happened to him ?) and Sugar Mountain - so I currently have 6 of the field running for me - unfortunately that means 12 can still win without my money - and See It Again, Winchester Mansion, Royal Victory and Hluhluwe would worry me most of those

Elvis, we hear you. No disrespect... we prefer the Little Ballerina tipster from the same household. Maybe, it's time for you to start saving for retirement and time to start listening to the voice of "reason" in the household..you know who's the Government!!

Would love to see Rachel get a crack at riding this horse but can't see it - especially in the July .
