Walls Come Tumbling Down π’π
1 year 3 weeks ago
Good morning all as we reach another sporting weekend.Β
As the walls come tumbling down - we are used to seeing tragic events from overseas caused by wars where the infrastructure and lives are broken and tumbling down.
We should also have "Georgia on our minds" as the Russians try and take control.Β
China and Russia also getting closer with SA in the wings.
We now have a tragic situation on our own doorstep with the collapse of a multi story building in George crushing the majority of the workforce working on-site π
I listened to Cyril saying that "no stone will be left unturned " to establish where the blame lies - poor choice of words...
Rather insensitive as he was standing beside the rubble.
This is the standard statement from our government and we all know that his comrades have never been found accountable for anything π‘
In addition to the ANC's failure in everything they have touched, Cyril is now attempting to win votes by collapsing the health service.
On a lighter note, I enjoy the thread where we highlight movies and shows to watch on TV. Better to watch something that's been recommended than scrolling endlessly through the numerous choices.
Likewise I thought it may be worth opening a thread to highlight favourite restaurants or holiday destinations. The idea came from discovering a new restuarant in Centurion called a Taste of Tennessee.
It comes highly recommended in my opinion.
The decor is stunning with great food and efficient staff. They also have whisky/whiskey tasting experiences from Jack Daniel's, Scottish, Irish to Japanese.
Back to racing:
We still await confirmation on the outcome of the NHRA/PETER saga.
Locally we won't see Gimme A Nother run again which is a pity, but we look forward to seeing her fly the flag in the States in due course.Β
The build up to the July is exceptional with some great big races in KZN this season.Β
This weekend is a lull before the storm as we have top class racing next Saturday 25th.
Did you take the 13/2 Green With Envy double?
This weekend we see another Poly meeting in PE. Today it may be fortuitous to back the early favs to pay for lunch.
Double header on Saturday from Turffontien and Kenilworth and Scottsville on Sunday.Β
Racing from York this week has been superb and BIG EVS looks as good as ever.
Tower of London runs today in the Yorkshire Cup but Aiden has not been firing yet πΒ
Note that Ryan leaves York to fly to Ireland to ride the star stayer Kyprios tonight.Β
City of Troy has shortened again from 7/1 to 7/2 for the Derby as his reputation is better than his bad 2000gns run.
The Premiership comes to a close with Man City 1/10 and the Gunners 9/1.
On the subject of Yorkshire I am sure Molly is hoping Leeds United gain promotion to the Premier.Β
I feel sorry for my partner in crime π George, Arsenal have scored enough points and enough goals to have won the league in any normal season.Β
He has been punting them at around 9/20 all year so I guess he must take 9/1 and cheer for West Ham and hope the mighty City defense comes tumbling down π
On the subject of fights, we must watch the Fury vs Usyk on Saturday night.
Good Punting πΒ
Just to touch on my song choice - in my youth Style Council (Paul Weller) was one of my favourite bands.......time flies

Brilliant read as always Dave !
Will this be the weekend that Richard hits the 300 mark?
Man City aka Club 115 may well make history on Sunday but will always have the * mark next to everything they have won until they answer all the charges levelled against them. I will be at Anfield on Sunday to bid farewell to a man who has lit up the Premier League for the last 9 seasons and will be sorely missed - you'll never walk alone Jurgen.
Happy weekend and good punting folksΒ
