Milkshaking/drenching - Is it illegal?

When we come across these 'positives' or high readings, particularly in cases involving drenching, there's often an assumption that the connections involved are engaging in foul play. However, from my understanding, the issue arises only if the reading surpasses a certain threshold, and the procedure itself isn't necessarily illegal. It would be helpful to include an appendix in the press releases to confirm this.Imo the rate was recently increased due to concerns about catching the wrong individuals.
Interestingly, I've heard from at least one person connected to these 'wrong' cases who insists that their yard has never engaged in such practices. So, what's causing these discrepancies? Shouldn't we consider pausing the process until we have more clarity to prevent innocent parties from being unfairly implicated?

as i understand drenching is legal but not on race day so many of these above threshold readings could well be just metabolism difference between animals and bad timing of the drench on the day before a race.

......again drenching is archaic and somewhat barbaric and has very little benefit.....it is akin to force feeding when even humans refuse to eat/feed and ingest.....feeding enriched or fortified fluids and some medication via nasal tubes should only be done in emergency medical situations....electrolytes and vitamin concentrates should only be given orally in feed and water or oral dosage gun.... higher TCO2 levels can also be attributed to metabolism, fitness, hyper activeness....if one wants to prevent post race or post exercise muscle fatigue/stiffness then there are a plethora of nutricuetical elixirs and feed additives on offer here....

......Drenching like administering and prescribing medication.....should be done only by a vet and recorded in a treatment register....this will soon stamp it out.....as f@cking about willy nilly with nasal tubes and concoctions is no good for horse welfare......
