Wishing I Was Lucky ☺️🤞

I had a very smooth efficient experience, have heard of many other that did not 😢

On the subject of Lucky, I am sure as gamblers we've all had our ups and downs and to take a line from one of my favourite track's from Cream's, Born Under A Bad Sign

"If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all".😢

I am fairly confident this won't be the case this weekend when Lucky Lad runs and I believe 5/2 is a fair price on this top class Tarry runner not to mention the assistance from the saddle.👍

There have been discussions in regard to our high handicap system and with the TCO2 levels we always have lots of conversion via the site and whatsapp group.
The bottom line is that racing continues to shoot itself in the foot. 

For the older members of the site you may remember my story about my greyhound Lucky Jim.
It was a lot easier in those days where a couple of pies and a "kill" the night before made the dog go slower or faster depending on the desired outcome 😉 to beat the handicap. 

This weekend is another superb feast of racing.

Local 

Today Turffontien 
Friday PE 
Saturday the big sprint day from Scottsville. 

Overseas 

It's the Oaks and Derby from Epsom, plus the Coronation Cup.  
The Oaks can go to Ylang Ylang. 
Coronation Cup to Emily Upjohn. 
The Derby remains the difficult call and we ask ourselves is City of Troy the real deal or a wooden horse? 
Can we argue with Aiden Obrien 🙄

I am sure the great man is turning in his grave with what his comrades have done with SA.
At time of writing ✍️ I have no idea what the outcome of the election will be, but if, as expected, the ANC remains in charge then the "people " have only themselves to blame for unemployment, power, water and corruption.

Many years ago, I read a book by John Pilger called Freedom Next Time...in it he recounts an interview he did with NM not long after Pilger was allowed back into South Africa as he had been banned from the country for his reporting...he also tells a story about how NM personally returned a cheque of R250000 to Bert Wessels of Toyota on the basis that it was not big enough...when the ANC was raising funds for the first election...so, he was not above the grifting that his comrades took to greater levels thereafter...and let's not forget his touring the world guilt tripping and brow beating companies and individuals as he coerced them into donating to his fund...

Remember that Cyril the Squirrel (NM's man and who he wanted to succeed him as president) and Tokyo Sexwale were the ANC's chief negotiators at Codesa...within 5 years they were "in business"...given for free stakes in the very companies that were hugely successful under apartheid and, in some cases, had lent / given money to the apartheid government when it couldn't borrow overseas...

So, NM was part of the original sin and not some innocent bystander...and let's not forget that the arms deal was approved by NM's cabinet...

I can only share my personal experience in industry and IMO 
from 1994  to 2009 we had Mandela,  Mbeki and a short spell for Motlanthe .....

The wheels came off and major corruption started with Zuma in 2009 to 2018 and put the country in the position it is in today.

I won't list the failures but can't think of any positive contributions? 

So much of South Africa's history has been distorted to portray a narrative that falls apart as one starts asking questions...sadly, too many want to believe the narrative not because it is believable but to not believe requires introspection and too many find that too hard to do because it may lead them to have to admit that they were wrong or misled...and pride and ego will not allow that...

this is the african way, the entire continent from north to south. it will never change .

What can we do except punt a winner 🏆

If Dyce has improved from the gelding they will have to run some to beat him !
