.....maybe because it is not a performance enhancer and more likely to have an opposite effect.... and then again how can the NHRA make any more money if they simply warn off all transgressors that may have accidentally taken advice from a vet miscalculating the withdrawal time of a prescribed substance.....
Acepromazine - "ace" - is a muscle relaxant that is commonly used alone or in combination with other sedatives in horses. Ace can be given IV, IM or orally for mild tranquilization. However, ace has no pain relieving qualities, it is not analgesic.

Acepromazine, commonly known as ACE, is also used for light sedation in horses to enable vets, trainers and paraprofessionals to easily carry out routine procedures safely such as clipping, farriery, dentistry or keeping a horse calm when on box rest.

Looks like a case of bad stable management as opposed to trying to give the horse an unfair advantage?

Acepromazine is a drug used to sedate animals and is not for human use. Most acepromazine poisonings occur in curious children or when people unintentionally mistake it for their own medication. Common symptoms of acepromazine poisoning include drowsiness and slowed breathing.
Acepromazine was first used in humans in the 1950s as an antipsychotic agent. It is now rarely used in humans. Acepromazine is frequently used in animals as a sedative and antiemetic. Its principal value is in quietening and calming anxious animals.

i find it strange that the Sporting Post lists the trainer's name in the heading of the 18k fine but for the massive 160k fine they use this heading "
Prohibited Substances – Gauteng Trainer Fined R160 000
" I wonder why that is?
