👀 In Your Eyes 👀
Keeping with the "eyes" theme, there's a brilliant weekend to look forward to.
Mrs. S is definitely seeing things clearly now 🙄
Last week’s rugby was a treat! Another great result for the Boks, and the All Blacks proved the 7.5 handicap was spot on. This week, it’s set to be another cracker. The handicap is now reduced to 5.5 + but still worth a punt. Maybe even throw a few bob on a draw at a big price! 😉
Also, the Aussies to beat Argentina again? Could be worth a shot.
Over in football, the new season has been full of excitement. Man City and Liverpool are setting the pace, while Man United... well, maybe it’s time for a new manager. At least fans get a break from Old Trafford this weekend 🤣
Geordies, you’re doing alright 👍
Crime, & The World
The world remains in chaos with conflicts, crimes, and crises across the globe.
Hamas execute hostages.
14 year old kills pensioner.
14 year old goes on shooting spree.
Do we blame parents or internet?
Migration a major concern.
In positive news locally, the DA appear to be trying (against negative MK distraction) and the new police minister has upped his game👏
Local Racing: As we await the Betway Summer Cup launch on Wednesday the 18th of September, they don't do things on a small scale but I think Oasis could already be booked 😉
PE today. Richard’s back 🙌
Bankers of the day: Cruise Control and Innamorare.
Saturday’s got a double-header. Early start at Turffontein with The Specialist, ideal for doubles and trebles. Durbanville will see Richard in action. My picks: Be Merry and Boundless Energy.
Sunday is Hollywood Scottsville and a very competitive card with big exotics forecast 😳
Overseas Update: Frankie Dettori rides for Aidan O’Brien in Kentucky with 3 promising horses—Greentinch, Mountain Bear, and Chief Little Rock.
I read that Gallop TV will also show Isivunguvungu (hope America commentator OK) at 22h55 on Saturday night.
Sunday is good racing from Hong Kong where the new sprint sensation Ka Ying Rising will run.
In France at Longchamp where Charyn is favourite to beat Notable Speech (good price) 👍
Plus check our UK thread for some top class racing over the weekend.
The final Classic of the season, the St Leger, is on 14th September. My money’s on O’Brien to continue his streak. Grosvenor House looks solid, but lets see what Ryan picks to ride ? We also have to keep an eye on Vauban for the Melbourne Cup for the other Irish maestro Willie Mullins.
Looking ahead, the ARC has lost some sparkle this year, but Look De Vega leads the boards at 5/2. Delius at 20/1 is a good outside bet.
Pity City of Troy not running.
Speaking of City of Troy, hats off to Aidan O'Brien’s meticulous planning! Looking forward to his Southwell gallop.
Keep an eye on his Breeders Cup run on 3rd Nov.
Forever Young is one of the opposition in a strong field but COT at 7/2 worth the punt 🤞
Staying with the "eyes" theme—one of the best concerts you’ll ever see is Peter Gabriel’s Live World Tour. Paula Cole’s vocals are a treat too. Worth a watch!
Good Punting and enjoy the weekend! 👍

Racing Post Saturday’s valuable Kentucky Downs card features plenty of figures well known to British and Irish racing fans, although the headline attractions are Aidan O’Brien and Frankie Dettori. The duo are linking up with three horses across the raceday, starting with
Greenfinch
in the Light & Wonder Ladies Marathon Stakes (
8.27
).The three-year-old gets weight from her elders and is coming into this assignment fresh from an impressive success in the Cairn Rouge Stakes at Killarney.By Justify out of the four-time Group 1 winner Misty For Me, she is a half-sister to the 2017 Dewhurst Stakes winner U S Navy Flag, making her one of the best-bred horses on the day.Dettori will then get the leg up on
Mountain Bear
in the Mint Millions Stakes (
9.41
). Like Greenfinch, he benefits from a weight-for-age allowance and his run in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot behind Haatem and Kikkuli looks like good form.O’Brien and Dettori’s partnership finishes with
Chief Little Rock
in the FanDuel TV Kentucky Turf Cup Stakes (
10.55
).The three-year-old son of Galileo underperformed when 12th of 14 in the King Edward VII Stakes, but having won the Gallinule Stakes in May and finished behind both Bellum Justum and Ancient Wisdom, it’s clear to see why he is vying for favouritism.
