The reality is that once a claimer (whether lady claim or appie claim) has ridden a horse, it is rated in that race by the handicapper ignoring the allowance, so effectively gets a rating that is too high if the claimer has ridden it properly. The claiming impact thus only helps the first time that the claimer gets on that horse. Hence, most of the horses that she rides regularly are in fact not advantaged by her claim at all- she just takes off the 1.5kg by which the horses' rating is already inflated due to her prior rides on it.
Her record in feature races where the claim does not apply proves that she does not need the claim to succeed, provided that trainers give her the opportunities.Β

Now I wonder which jockey the above statement does not apply to?Β
I know for a fact that some of the KZN appies could've benefited by being flown up to Gauteng full costs covered for a full book of rides.Β

I think the introduction of the lady allowance was to encourage more females to enter the sport π€Β
I have no idea if this theory became a reality.Β
it's probably time to amend this situation and take away the allowance and give the lads a chance before we get jocks wanting to be identified as jockets π

The allowance is a subject that has many questions. Basically she is like an apprentice for life.
I remember the start of last season she rode a few wins and a lot of the tipsters and podcasters believed that she would challenge for championship last season, very bad judgment by some, the usual when a rider has a few wins.

Dennis Bosch and
Doug Campbell only 5 trainers to use her 1.5 KG allowance often with success.
