.....card looks a bit tricky.....as Richard Fourie has been sent to earn his retainer at Ridgemont and has picked up some others that could be as competitive.....so expect fun and games when most start shortening if he hits his straps early....wink....

.....my Fourie picks would be....R3, R7, R8....and although he may look like a penalty kick in the 1st.....I fear Matchett's rather large bag of tricks.....and could have a lurker with a 3 kilo swing and don't need to hammer it on the nose.... as the exotics are more his thing....wink

Thoughts - as Muhti says, Fourie is riding the Ridgemont runners - and so could have a few winners - would be interesting to know for which one (or two ?) he actually came here ....
R1: Any of the 3 - can't take odds-on on (specifically a juvenile) - so toss-op between Caroline Island and Glastonbury
R2: As per the betting, Winds of Change look hard to beat - and imo this is a genuine odds-on shot
R3: None of the 3 principles have been blessed with good draws - imo any of the 3 could win depending luck in running ...
R4: Apache Chief has also not drawn well, but imo still looks the one to beat; Spy Story (Gates up now) is overdue and aided by pole position, so the main danger; Mxoli might have felt something amiss with Chieftan's Shield last time and now ops for Spirito Selvaggio, which imo could be the wrong decision as CS holds both Spy Story and Spirito on his penultimate run
R5: Zeus imo the right one over this trip at the weights; Crimson King at 10s look the value
R6: Let's Go Now cherry ripe and should take a lot of beating
R7: Looks competitive - as recent winners Potberrie and Francine have been hiked in the ratings, while Lead the Charge has yet to show he stays 1400; as such Miss Hannigan is my first choice (also just best in); watch out for Max the Magician who seems at best over 1400 and has a neat draw (also not badly in at the weights)
R8: Tough race to close; Pretty Precious could be one of those that Fourie made the trip for; Samoa has not won for more than 600 days, but still runs the odd good race and at least is drawn on the stand's side
Enjoy

We have Crimson King in race 5. This is his 3rd run after the rest, and the right distance. On the weight conditions is 3lb under sufferance with Zeus, which is clearly the one to beat. hopefully one of the light weights will set a solid pace. We are expecting a good run today.
This looks a much easier card than Kenilworth
Race 1 All three of the winners must be respected and it all depends on which has made the most improvement. Matchett has a bunch of first timers which could be anything.
Race 2 Winds of Change sparkling return last time and should win easily.
race 3 Mountain High is a perennial bridesmaid, but should get it right today.. dangers the Mightiest and Up the Ante. Look out for Hollywood Madam despite the draw.
Race 4 More battling maidens and Apache Chief should get it right but include spirito Selvaggio, Snow Moon, Spy Story, and the roughie Brigham that improved second start.
race 5 as above - Zeus and Crimson King to fight it out
race 6 Let's Go Now is very well in at the weights. Beating Wings and Willy Meet Again next best.
Race 7 Open. Miss Hannigan appeals at the weights against Francine
Race 8 very open. The Navy Lark gets 4kg claimer and that could make the difference.

To my mind Rachel on a juvenile is worth 2 lengths .... so Glastonbury for me.... watch for a beautifully balanced ride... just hands and heels at the finish

She does have a beautiful balanced ride. Stark contrast to the winner.
