Would It Be Wrong

Immediate Edge ran and won yesterday and is carded to run in Race 5 tomorrow. If the stable is of the opinion he came out the race well and he remains in tomorrow's race, surely the merit rating will increase and so will the weight.

Here's the thing though, if you go into the betting right now, you can get 4/1, system will allow the bet. If he stands his ground, surely he will shorten in the betting, especially after Mike's comments.

Would it be "ethically" wrong to take the bet at the current odds? If he is scratched, you will get refunded!

If he runs, he is not my first choice to win, just asking what would you do?

Nothing wrong with taking / accepting the price as offered by the bookies...if they thought that yesterday's win should alter the odds, they would have done so already...

Likely to be scratched as not often trainers run their horses twice in three days...

It has been done in the past, admittedly, the horse did not win first time carded, then won three days later.

My point being if he stands he's ground, the price will be adjusted down, so you'd score with the current odds (4/1) - conversely, if scratched you'll get a refund, sort of a win/win. You are correct, the betting hasn't been suspended.

.......should a horse show an immediate post race recuperation ie eat up food within 24hrs and show no excess lactic acid it should be ready to roll.....besides MDK nourishes his horses better than most and may well be using a good nutricutical feed additive to speed up recuperation as he seems to have found good form of recent.....

Looks like the MR was raised to 88 from 83 and will carry 56.0kg, priced adjusted into 33/10 (HW).

Used to be a regular thing in the UK " beating the handicapper" you could plan a horses campaign, freshen them up and then run them 10 times in a month

.....tomorrow's race is rather perplexing as MmDK have another runner in the race with Yeni up.....so Muzi owes them a better performance to that of the Greaterix ride and now has a 2nd chance to redeem himself.....they would know which is the better.... but we don't....oops

See Immediate Edge has been scratched now. So you would have been refunded had you taken the 4/1.

Even if he had stood his ground, think Gavin (On Target) was always the right one.

.....look out for a possible early plunge on the other MmDK horse..... as if it is on the job there are then doubles from 1st race today.....the part owner of both has been a very shrewd punter for many many years....wink
