Direct Hit (3/1), fastest time over 1000m.irrespective of the centre. The next best time over 1000m is 3.84 seconds slower, that’s many lengths difference. Think Fourie’s choice speaks volumes, especially if we take for granted, the centre where the horse races. For those who notice these things, trainer has one runner on the day. The real question, can she maintain that speed for an extra 200m? At this stage she appears to be an out an out 1000m horse, however I don’t believe they would have made her travel if they didn’t believe she has a winning chance.

Seem to think Pierre Strydom won or finished second on a juvenile from PE some years back, may have even been for Greeff.

Masterofthedesert (7/2), run against stronger last time out. Repeat of that effort and he should go close. The dark horse must be Water Dragon (20/1), has beaten Masterofthedesert giving him a kg and is now 4.5kg better off.

.....yes Greeff has featured with several PE juvenile speedsters since he 1st cracked it and others like Bremner did it too....Fourie up is not by choice as he is retained by Ridgemont....the PE 1000m dash is much faster than any other but the 1200m at Kenilworth can tame the tear aways as cover is needed should there be any headwind....my choice is Absolutely Yes which botched the jump in his only start and then cantered the soft sticky 1000m to win going way....

Rosh Kadesh, marginal choice. Has been consistent over the distance. Not disgraced in the last two efforts. Looks like there will be a decent pace which is what he may be looking for.

Race (4)

Think the pace of the race will determine the outcome. Scarlet Macaw, my fancy to win, does have stamina doubts getting the distance, however, difficult seeing where the pace will come from. If turned into a sprint, she will go very close and I am judging that on her last two runs, the slow run Cape Fillies Guineas (winner’s time 100.08 – she finished second 2.00 lengths off), whereas, the in the Majorca over the same distance (winner’s time 98.34 – she finished 6th, 6 lengths off).

Roccopina, one effort beyond the sprints and she finished a close third behind Rascova (1st) and Double Grand Slam (2nd) in a Grade 1. Does look well in with fellow 3 year old, Mon Petit Cherie. Make Roccopina the one they all have to beat. Will throw in 1 and 10 for the P6.

Race (9)

Going to take on Alltheboysiveloved with Golden Angel. Sufficient turnaround at the weights to reverse the placings the last time they met.

Race 4 - we really like the look of the progressive give me everything once the gimmethegreenlights penny drops they can become very usrlful sorts we make this one the best bet on the day!!

Jumping back to race 2 we've told the lads to take a strike and the double with Regulation we don't believe the drop to 1400m is a negative I think it's a smart move knowing giving weight away over 1800m would of been a bit of a tricky task we have nailed 3-1 I think it's 2-1 and we think the drop back to 1400 is a master move

Race 9 - we a bit hopefully here but my only weakness improve nicely with the drop back in trip I like this move to drop it further back to 1400m with blinkers I think the penny might drop here and could win 1 maybe 2 on the bounce if the blinkers work here I'm hoping we not 1 run to soon on this horse and we can end the day and week with another winner

Race 1, an absolute ton of support for Direct Hit, opened 33/10, now 22/10. There was massive support for current favourite, Winter Snap, opened 7/2 backed into 2/1 favourite. Original favourite , Wild Wild Green, opened 2/1 now trading at 7/2.

Come race time, think Direct Hit will jump as favourite.
