Coups??? Never but always supported the tote, this single factor has seen the demise of racing. Imagine it never having been invented, we would be racing for 5X the stakes today and the industry would be thriving!! Go figure Bobby ye auld shrewdie

Quite a few exaggerations in that rant. 90% profit?
Overlooked the main question. Why did punters choose to play the open bet with bookies?
Weak argument to blame the competition for racings demise.
Nothing is fair in business.

Bookmakers have been around for 200 years, the tote 60 years

The issue with the TOTE is not the bookmakers, but GREED... 30% takeout is fucking robbery
