4 Grade 1s
3 Grade 2s
The Gold Cup now a grade 3?
and
2 Listed events.

Is this strategic for future big race days or just well fuck it any day will do lets get the planning for champions season over with.

I think it is sort of (pretty sh*t) tradition - last year it was also on a Sunday ...

I recall it has to do with world pools ,think Royal Ascot has world pools on Saturday,so Sunday meeting at Greyville will also have world pools

I am sure Gold Cup has normally been run on the Sunday?

Who actually benefits from World Pools? Looks impressive, but in real benefits?

I checked - in 2022 the GOld Cup was run on a Saturday - so the last 2 years this has been moved to Sunday - perhaps the reason is World Pools - but as said, not sure what benefit it actually has - one would have to compare the dividends

Hey Frodo, quite apart from betting into large pools, the benefit for South African racing, as the host nation, is millions of rands in commission.

After looking at the dividends on JULY Day, there is no benefit for the local punters. Probably the commission...

The dividends with the World Pools were lower and my question of how a 14/1 winner pays R10 on the Tote still hasn't been answered to my satisfaction. Something is seriously wrong or people in the know locally have punters backing overseas.

I am not one for conspiracy theories but when it looks like shit and smells like shit... it is invariably not ice cream

I was under the impression that the July itself was NOT a Worldpool event ... but I might be wrong ...
What is the 'commision' ... and where does it go ?

"WORLD POOL" which was inclusive of Hong Kong and their rules for places...But what was the betting breakdown from all jurisdictions?

The commission or "take-out" is paid to the Operator's

There has been much reporting on the winners of the feature races on the day, but very little feedback of what may be of interest to punters.

I mean, what are the jorno's actually doing? I, for one, would like some feedback on why the JHB horses performed the way they did on the day? I don't put it down to weaker JHB form lines in the main race... statistically something must have gone wrong in the travel.

Snaith was the only trainer being totally transparent about the travel, cudo's to him. Pirates said many years ago, punters don't need all the inside info but they need to know if the horse is well. What do we base the Gold Cup day form study on? If travel was the problem, all those form lines could be reversed on the 27th if the JHB horses travel better...Which ones were left in DBN?
