I hope you're all gearing up for Gold Cup Day next Sunday at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
As I’ve grown older, I must admit I’ve come to prefer this day over the July. It just feels a bit more refined — classy rather than chaotic, if you will.
We’ve got a strong card lined up, with some big payouts likely on the horizon. As always, we’ll have all the key info and insights available on the site.
There’s loads of great sport on at the moment, with fantastic TV coverage, and being more homebound these days certainly makes keeping up much easier.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Lions vs Australia game. Credit to the Aussies — they gave it a real go — but I feel the Lions have a few clever tricks up their sleeve as the tour progresses.
And what can we say about the mighty Springboks? Georgia are a tough, physical side, but the depth of talent in the Bok squad is truly world-class.
It was also a big night of boxing. Sadly, Kevin Lerena was outclassed by a sharp and powerful Lawrence Okolie. In the main event, Usyk dominated Dubois, cementing his place as one of the greatest of this era.
On a more personal note, I’ve never been a deeply religious person — perhaps because so much hatred and conflict has stemmed from it over the centuries. But I’ve found myself in some dark places recently, and more than once, I’ve caught myself holding out my hand, hoping for a little support from something — or someone — out there. Especially for Mrs S. 🙏
