CROP CONTRAVENTION

The fine and sanction for the crop contravention in the Champions Cup seems very harsh when looked at in the perspective of overall safety.

Veale was fined more than 50k for 14 instead of 12 strikes and given two weeks suspension. The number of strikes were in contravention of the NHA rules however after watching the race a few times I can't help but feel that it is off kilter.

While I may not be the biggest Veale fan, I can't help but feel that he is being treated harshly. He is not known for cutting horses in half with the crop and he certainly looked after Gladitorian in the race.

What really surprised me was the sanction in comparison yo what Zackey was doing at the same time. Zackey dangerously takes up the running of Dave The King and See It Again, causing both to check. See It Again had to check at a crucial point while Zackey does nothing to correct his path. Surely this was more dangerous than 2 extra strikes with a crop?

Last week the stipes raised an objection for a horse finishing 4th against the one finishing 3rd. This was funny to me as this interference happens every other race without anything being done. The point being if you are going to fine riders in contravention of the rules then surely it must be consistent.

Yes and we still waiting for Lerena to take all his suspensions. I see that he is only booked off for two-weeks now!!
