FAIRVIEW: FRIDAY, 7 AUGUST 2026 – RACING GOES AHEAD ON TURF
1 week 3 days ago
Johannesburg, South Africa — Gallops were conducted on Fairview’s turf track at 10am on Thursday morning.
The going is still soft with a pen meeting of 30, but the jockeys who rode the gallops declared the going as consistent and therefore the track management team feel the surface is good enough for racing to go ahead on the turf as scheduled.
The 4Racing team are making every effort to conduct Friday’s meeting on the turf track as we haven’t been able to race on grass since mid-April. However, the weather forecast does predict rain, which may force the meeting to move to the poly during the course of the day, but hopefully that can be avoided.
We look forward to a good day’s racing.

Interesting to see Duncan Mckenzie and Andrew Fortune teaming up in the last with Piton de neige 10/1 , worth an each way at the price

Why does the trainers not get the opportunity to scratch runners if they feel they would not act on the Poly ? And the betting is a bit of a balls-up ....

The sooner HW take over racing in PE and Gauteng the better..all my bets refunded and no time to put them on again as the bookies did not have new fields up..why did they not delay by half an hour
