Under pressure 🎶
8 hours 14 minutes ago
Good morning, all,
We’ve just returned from a road trip with our good friends, and we’d like to thank them once again for a superb experience.
We’re now under a little pressure to get back to normal after enjoying some fantastic weather, only to return to a cold spell! 🥶
Our trip included seven days in Mozambique 🇲🇿 at the seaside, followed by another seven days near the Kruger Park, where an abundance of wildlife was a daily occurrence.
My family and friends requested that I cut back on the videos, but it was such a memorable experience that we wanted to share some of it with you.
It was strange getting used to 14 days without television or the news, but I have to say, it’s well worth trying!
And, just to keep us truly "under pressure", we had no power for three days after returning. It seems to have become the norm with poor service delivery, with power and water shortages being blamed on a lack of preventative maintenance.
Where have all the funds gone?
Surely, it’s time to remove the incompetent ANC from power before they damage or steal anything else?
The Madlanga Commission is becoming increasingly scary to watch, with the corruption being exposed. The doctors must be running out of sick notes! 📝🤣
I see there was an evacuation this morning too! 🤣
On a happier note, we had George’s belated birthday celebration and the launch of the Bela Cheeza wine shop. 🍷
It really is worth a visit, particularly for the wine-tasting evenings, and the venue is available for all sorts of events, including parties, sporting events, weddings and even funerals.
Some Exciting Times Ahead
We have plenty to look forward to over the next week.
🏉 Rugby
Boks vs All Blacks should be an absolute classic.
The Boks are hot favourites, but I expect this one to be close, with even a draw a possibility.
⚽ Football
Arsenal looked fantastic against Man City yesterday. A very impressive performance.
🏇 Racing
Unfortunately, Bow Echo has been retired from racing, which is a real shame.
However, the four-day Ebor Festival at York, starting on Wednesday, should be fantastic.
We’ll have a daily update on the site, but the race of the week – and possibly the season – could be the Juddmonte Stakes on Wednesday.
Ombudsman takes on the unbeaten Constitution River.
I have no doubt the Man will beat the Aidan O’Brien star!
On the local front, Keagan de Melo is firing on all cylinders in the jockeys’ championship.
It’s also the Equus Awards on Tuesday night, which is always an impressive occasion and a great celebration of South African racing.
ABC – A New Chapter
As far as ABC is concerned, the developers have been working on a much-needed upgrade. 👌
It’s looking pretty good, although change is always difficult – but it’s essential to keep up with new technology and give everyone the best possible experience.
Hopefully, us old folks can find our way around the new site! 🤞
It’s also a very special year for ABC as we celebrate 20 years.
To mark the occasion, a race will be named on behalf of the Clan on 5 September at 4Racing. A special thank you to Mark Kinsman, who has helped make the race naming possible – it’s very much appreciated.
It’s a real honour to have the "Voice of the Punter" recognised in this way. 🙏
Twenty years is quite some achievement, and it’s fantastic to be part of it.
Under Pressure
So, to keep us all "under pressure" while trying to find those winning combinations capable of beating the bookies, here’s a classic from some of my favourite artists.
🎵 Good Punting! 👍

I checked .... I made my first post to 'Who Are You' 19 years and 1 week ago - much have changed ito racing - but I still have the occasional (well actually quite regularly) flutter on the horses .... can't believe that 20 years have gone so quickly
