Matthew, I need your assistance here please. Do you know how old the OLDEST MAIDEN WINNER was in S.A.

I have heard of a 5y.o. winning a maiden race & even probably a 6 y.o. but is there any confirmation of an OLDER MAIDEN winning their 1st race.

I notice that DAMASCUS HOSTESS is still nominated on a regular basis & should she " vloek " a win at aged 10 - I'm sure that would be an S.A. record.
( I'm not talking about bush racing )

Britain's worst racehorse has failed to break his duck after trailing in last in the 101st race of his career.

Quixall Crossett, the bay gelding which had failed to win any of its previous 100 outings, has finished last of the six runners at Wetherby.

The race - the Reliant Cars Quixall Crossett Maiden Chase - was billed as an ideal partnership between two of the country's best-known underdogs.

The 16-year-old horse's trainer, Ted Caine, says he is not downhearted by the loss.

"It is getting a bit doubtful whether he will ever win a race, but I will be pleased if he can get placed a few times," he said.

"We will run him again I think, but we will take things one day at a time and see how he is."

dont know about maidens but there was a horse won the other day in the uk at 13 on the flat ,same horse has won every year since 2001
