Is the title race over???

Against all odds Andy Fortune seems to have all but sewn up the jockey title ..riding at a restricted weight of 57kg and for the most part riding only 58 plus Manna is now 18 ahead of Anton and 38 clear of Mark Khan and barring accidents looks hard to catch even at this early stage, should he win,it would be truly remarkable and a fairytale type story usually reserved for the movies,never before and I venture to say never again will a championship be won by a jock who is only able to ride at the weight that he has done thus far and there is no doubt in my mind that if he could ride at 55kg's the SA record would be smashed...Ray Curling is doing a fantastic job and together they gone from strength to strength with a unbelievable 26 winners in November...well done RC and Andy long may your success continue..

He is riding brilliantly and is a true master - no question. recent eg's would be Ivory Trail on Sat or Welo yesterday

IMHO however talk of the title being 'sewn up' is premature, and could be tempting fate. He is collecting suspensions at a merry rate, and hasn't had any injury enforced layoffs yet, as is likely to happen at some stage to somebody 40+ riding and travelling at the rate he is.

He is statistacly +- 2 months ahead of Mark and has already served 1 months worth of suspensions this season 88 winners puts him on target for +- 250 winners for the season (and that is allowing for 1 week suspension each month) Mark won the 07/08 season with 192 winners 06/07 with 227 and the 05/06 with 185,MJ won his title with 193 in 04/05 and 214 was the winning total in the 03/04 season so for me barring injury he will win it and would put the cherry on top of what will be an unbelievable turn about in ones life he has become a credit to the industry and a shining light to many...keep living the dream Andy..

Spoke to him on Saturday and asked him when he is going to write a autobiography, he say I will not sell until he has the jockeys title!!!! I am expecting the book out next December.

I Think his fairy tale story, and if Anant Singh does read this, is worthy of little feature film. I think that there is enough material in this for a movie.
