Strange returned odds

Cornucopia returned 96/10 ? And I saw another recently 31/1
Is this a joke. I suppose few people bet SP here so not a major issue but these odds live up to their name and get odder by the day.

Hi there Mr Scotia
With regards to the above post,
Cornucopia was 12/1 when the field went into the starting stalls and as you are aware there was a late scratching at the start that being number ,
12 HER EXCELLENCY which was quoted in the betting at 5/1 therefore the field was subject to a 20 % deduction.
The winner of the race was Cornucopia which was 12/1 before the scratching therefore less 20 % = 9.6/1 or 96/10
Due to the fact HER EXCELLENCY was a late scratching just at the off and there was insufficient time to revise the betting for the race, the race ran with the original prices subject to that 20 % deduction hence the unconventional odds after the application of the deduction.
Had there been sufficient time ( and we have spoken to the racing authorities about this on numerous occasions) we would have revised the betting for the entire field.
We trust that this clears up any confusion that may have arisen.

Thank you Mr Scott
With reference to our earlier e-mail concerning confusion with irregular odds, please take note of the following,
In Scottsville Race 6 (Sunday 07/12/08 at 15h20) we had the same scenario ,Sharks Bay was quoted at 9/2 and declared a non-runner after the race therefore the winner Belcanto at 12/1 is subject to a 20 % deduction =9.6/1 or 96/10
This is almost the same scenario as the race won by Cornucopia .
Many Thanks

Strange, the same rules aply in the UK but I have NEVER seen 96/10. The odds are declared with a deduction % to be applied, which amounts in the end to the same thing. Thanks for taking the trouble to explain.
By the way, what's the story behind 31/1 ? Surely you go 25/1 28/1 33/1.
