Breedsbreeze 6-1 favourite for RSA Chase
Nigel Clark Feltham Novices' Chase (Sponsored by Stan James) (Grade 1) 3m,4yo+
BREEDSBREEZE is the 6-1 favourite (from 12) with Betfred and Ladbrokes for the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival after making it three out of three over fences when jumping the best of the bunch at Kempton on Friday.
Shadows across many of the fences caused all six novice chasers to make mistakes.
Massini's Maguire and Shining Gale swapped front-running duties for much of the race, which lost French-raider Millenium Royal when he unseated his rider on the second circuit.
Not soon after that Shining Gale completely missed his jump and tumbled under Timmy Murphy leaving Massini's Maguire alone up front.
The Market Man travelled well in second before making a bad error that seemed to knock his confidence. He returned home last of the of the four runners.
Up the straight Massini's Maguire ran on strongly but was overhauled by Breedsbreeze who drew away to win well after a spectacular jump at the last.
Winning jockey Ruby Walsh said: "The sun was just throwing shadows across the track and the horses were looking at them.
"He's a smashing horse and he wasn't doing a lot in front at the end."
The PaulNicholls-trained runner returned the 15-8 favourite and was cut into RSA Chase favouritism by all firms with Ladbrokes and Betfred (6-1 from 12) the two most impressed.
Second went to Massini's Maguire at 6-1 and Hold Em was third at 16-1.
