NHA: Jockeys suspended

The following are suspensions of jockeys recently handed down by the Jockey Club.

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that Jockey Marco Van Rensburg was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 in that whilst riding MIGHTY ASSASSIN in Race 6 at the Vaal Racecourse on 18 December 2008, he used his crop in an excessive manner over the final 500m. Van Rensburg signed an Admission of Guilt and he has been suspended from riding in race meetings for a period of one week from 23 December to 29 December 2009, both days inclusive.

Apprentice Jockey Donald Bogaleboile was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 in that whilst riding NUGGET OF GOLD in Race 1 at the Fairview Racecourse on 19 December 2008, he used his crop in an excessive manner over the final 200m. Bogaleboile signed an Admission of Guilt and he has been suspended from riding in race meetings for a period of one week from 27 September to 2 January 2009, both days inclusive.

Jockey Bernard Fay D’ Herbe was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that, whilst riding PRAIRIE FIRE he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to KIRRIBILLI at approximately the 250m mark in Race 4 at the Kenilworth Racecourse on 23 December 2008. Fay D’ Herbe signed an Admission of Guilt and he has been suspended from riding in race meetings for a period of one week from 31 December to 6 January 2009, both days inclusive.
