Ready to Run Sales

I would venture a prediction that in the medium term (10 years from now) most sales worlwide will be ready to run sales..the traditional yearling sales where you can see the wrapping but dont know whats inside are becoming too risky at the prices.

my mate oscar - nice to see you back - i think maybe there is a gap in the market for serious pretraining farms - send your babies there for a year and then before you waste money sending to a trainer let him/her look at them and decide if they are worth racing or not - big waste of time to keep a horse in a racing stable for two years only to find it's better suited to polo than racing - save you a bundle in fees and because of volume perhaps xrays on knees and vet bills could be cheaper if the farm gets a business minded vet on board - never happen i know cause trainers want to fill boxes with babies

I can't see either of these predictions happening any more than it is now.
For a start, most of the trainers guide their owners and have their particular path of preparation, so this would mean that owners take control...ha!
And secondly, breeders of the real blue bloods a> would not want to assume the risk of knee chips or whatever in pre-training or prep for ready to runs, and b>neither would proper buyers want to buy horses that might be ruined in a prep they would never have chosen.
It may work at the bottom end...but not the top.
Not to mention that nearly all really big owners become breeders anyway.

Im telling you things are changing here, Aus,NZ and USA..lets see whos right Jack believe me the big owners do have control mate..do some research.
Howzit Mr H you took the words outa my mouth..the local mkt hasnt got the best pre training except for 1 that I have seen..good trainers would prefer to have horses come in sound and ready to step up to hard work.

Intresting thread Oscar i tend to agree with you that in the long run owners would like to have seen if their horseflesh is worth a gamble, instead of buying blind or on pedigree, just to much of a gamble.
