Ok so how lucky is this guy?
I sent a message to my mates yesterday telling them Clan Classique was running, that it was around 12/1 and not without a chance.
Just as I left for the track I checked my mail and a mate known as “The Hammer” had sent a one liner that read “Just put R100 on her to win”
My interpretation of this was that he wanted me to back the horse for him and I replied say you got a bet.
Before the off I stuck R100 on for him at the tote and after CC arrived I phoned him to tell him he had made R1500.
He sounded strangely confused but I assumed I had got him at a bad time although he did suprisingly (he is not a big punter) mention to backing it with Pearl Betting as well.
Later while rereading the mail I realised that he was telling me that he had put R100 on the horse and not asking me to back it.
Hammer is now delighted to be R1500 richer thanks to that miscommunication but it does highlight how easy these things can get mixed up and the ending is not always as happy. I guess the onus would have been on me to clarify exactly what he meant.
