looks like you got to be drawn or finish right up against the outside..track way to narrow and plenty hard luck stories to come..

Weren't Benoni and Gosforth Park the same thing? Or am I mistaken?
There was also a racecourse in Pretoria, until around the time of WW2, I think. And, although they were not in Gauteng, how many of today's racing crowd know that Welkom and East London also had racecourses until some time in the early 1960s? I think both of them were nicknamed "Robbery Park" at one time or another...

Yep, Germiston Race Track meetings were 'hosted' as Gosforth park... and Benoni Turf Club for quite some years ....

There was both a Benoni and Germiston race course until the early sixties (not quite sure when Benoni stopped) - after that Benoni meetings were run at Gosforth

Fingers you are correct, Benoni racecourse eventually become a hot rod track. the grandstand is still there today. Maybe they should reopen the track!
Pretoria definitely before my time. I do remember results coming through from East London every 2nd Saturday
