Scoop6 bonus rollover fund set to hit £2.8m
WITH the massive pool eluding the bonus hunters in last week's Scoop6, the Tote are anticipating plenty of interest in the bet on Saturday as punters will be attempting to land an estimated £1 million and the chance to go on and try for further riches in seven days time.
The bonus fund now stands at a rollover figure of £2,622,522 which means a single winner on Saturday would have the chance of adding just over £2.8million to their initial winnings.
Saturday's Scoop6 action takes place at Ascot, Haydock, Uttoxeter and Wincanton and starts off in typically difficult fashion with the 17-runner Blue Square Gold Cup at Haydock coming hot on the heels of a 15-runner handicap hurdle at Ascot.
Totepool spokesman George Primarolo said: "This weekend's Scoop6 sees the second-highest combined rollover in the history of the bet and a single winner on Saturday could pocket up to £4million in total.
"With the record-breaking bonus fund still intact, we estimate that the bet will capture the imagination of the public once more and predict just under £1million will be up for grabs in the win pool on Saturday."
Should any of the meetings be abandoned, the Scoop6 will operate on the remaining races but any winners would not be eligible for the bonus fund next weekend.

Single winner going for massive Scoop6 bonus
A SINGLE ticket landed the Scoop6 on Saturday afternoon which means the holder now goes forward for a chance to win the biggest prize in British racing history, the record-breaking bonus fund of £2,755,923.
The winner, a Totesport customer from Suffolk who placed 64 bets at a total of £128, picked up the £669,465.30 which was in the win pool, but will boost their winnings to more than £3.4 million should they select the winner of the bonus race which at this early stage looks likely to be the Totesport Eider Chase at Newcastle.
There were only two tickets left in after leg five, with the eventual winner relying on Tarateeno who bested Devil's Creek by three and three quarter lengths.
Totepool spokesman George Primarolo said: "You have to take your hat off to our internet customer from Suffolk who managed not only to land Saturday's Scoop6 with only 64 lines but who now gives himself the chance of winning the record-breaking bonus fund next weekend.
"He'll have a few sleepless nights between now and next weekend!"
There were 435 winners of the Scoop6 place fund on Saturday, each picking up £408.80.

Not quite the Scoop6 but I was left in shock last night after Chelsea came back from 1-0 down to beat watford with 3 goals in the last 15 min.
I had field in my Soccer 6 and with so many punters bankering Chelsea a Watford win would likely have sent the dividend over 20k - instead I willbe sharing with the entire country and will be lucky if I double my money

Having seen the dividend I now feel even worse – it paid R6700 with Chelsea winning, I can only wonder what might have been

Mystery Scoop6 winner will give prize to charity
A SIX-MONTH Scoop6 saga could finally arrive at the happiest possible ending on Racing Post Chase day after last week's sole winning ticket holder vowed to give the Royal British Legion every single penny of the £2.75 million he stands to collect if finding the winner of Saturday's bonus-fund race.
The outstanding act of generosity, revealed on Tuesday by the Tote, could lead to the Legion, which provides essential support for past and present members of the UK's armed forces, collecting the biggest win in British betting history and around ten per cent of the sum raised annually by its poppy appeal.
In a further twist to an already astonishing story, the Suffolk-based internet punter, who last Saturday picked up £669,465.50 when emptying the Scoop6 win fund, will not travel to the racecourse where his bonus race selection runs after repeating his desire to remain anonymous.
Having not been won for 24 consecutive weeks - making it the longest-ever Scoop6 rollover - the bonus-fund pot is nearly double the one-race puzzle's previous largest payout of nearly £1.4m in June 2004. The figure up for grabs is also far in advance of the £1,562,647 that in November 2007 became the single biggest haul in Scoop6 history.
The mystery man, who staked £128 to buy 64 Scoop6 lines last Saturday, said on Tuesday: "It was a great thrill to win the Tote Scoop6 - though more by luck than judgement! When Tarateeno won the final race, I decided that I would pledge the bonus fund to my favourite charity - the Royal British Legion - if I am lucky enough to win on Saturday. I have already won a considerable amount of money for such a small outlay and I wish the Legion the best of luck this weekend."
Given the likely absence of the successful punter, the Tote are planning to invite the legion's senior figures, members and celebrity supporters to Kempton or Newcastle on Saturday. The Racing Post Chase, which has Big Fella Thanks as its strong favourite, or the Totesport.com Eider Chase are thought to be the two races most likely to be named as the bonus contest.
The legion, whose poppy appeal brings in around £30m a year, expressed surprise and delight when told about its potential windfall.
A spokesperson said: "The Royal British Legion relies heavily on public donations, however large or small, in order to
deliver the necessary welfare care to those who have served, or are serving, Queen and country. A token of generosity from this anonymous person would be very welcome, should he win, and we wish him the best of luck!"
Totepool managing director David Craven said: "If this weekend's bonus fund is won, it will be the biggest ever payout in UK betting history.
"It is a life-changing amount of money, and to donate it all to charity is a wonderful gesture in these difficult times. The Royal British Legion works tirelessly to help servicemen, women and their families - it would be an incredible outcome if, after a record-breaking run for the Totescoop6, this huge sum went to such a good cause."

Scoop6 winner donates £200k despite bonus loss
THE £2.75 million Scoop6 bonus was not won following Nacarat's impressive victory in the Racing Post Chase on Saturday, but the mystery punter chasing the windfall has decided to donate £200,000 of last weekend's winnings to the Royal British Legion.
The Suffolk-based internet punter, who netted last week's Scoop6 to win £669,465.50, selected 7-2 favourite Big Fella Thanks in the bonus contest, but the Paul Nicholls-trained seven-year-old could finish no closer than third.
The punter had pledged to donate every penny of the £2,755,923 pot to the charity if successful and said: "I desperately wanted to win the bonus race for the Royal British Legion but it wasn't to be and I would like to extend my thanks to the Tote for their efforts this week.
"Nevertheless, I am delighted to donate £200,000 to the Legion and will be back to have a crack at the Scoop6 next weekend!"
The Tote also placed a £1,000 on the winner of the race, and with Nacarat sent off at 10-1, the Legion received an additional £11,000.
Robert Lee, head of public relations and campaigns for the Royal British Legion, was equally delighted with the outcome.
"Although our selection finished third, the Legion still ends up a winner," he said.
"We're very grateful to our anonymous donor and the entire racing fraternity - especially the Tote - for the support they've shown to the Legion and the armed forces family."
