JACK MILNER RXP.
THERE is a double drop for Jet Goddess when she contests Race 7 at Kenilworth today, a MR 84 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1200m. Trainer Basil Marcus’s charge has only run six times in her career, but in her last three outings she contested top feature events.
Those were the Diana Stakes, Odessa Stud Fillies Championship and the Grade 1 Cape Fillies Guineas. She finished fourth in the Diana Stakes, but was beaten 7.25 lengths by Mother Russia in the Odessa Stud Fillies Championship and finished 6.75 lengths behind Sparkling Gem in the Fillies Guineas.
She takes a significant drop in class but also races over a shorter distance. Given that her maiden success came over 1600m, she could find this distance a little sharp. However, Jet Goddess has not run since the Guineas in December and the 81-day break will have freshened her up, which could work in her favour.
Mike Bass sends out Denschogar, who has only been unplaced once over the course and distance and who looks the main threat. She has some good form to her credit, including a second to Rose Reserve and five-length third behind Dance With Al.
She does not have the feature-race history of the Marcus runner but did finish second to Temair at Durbanville last time out and that filly ran Mother Russia to 0.50 lengths in Saturday’s Prix Du Cap over 1400m.
In December, Denschogar was beaten 3.85 lengths by Badger’s Cove but encountered traffic problems and is now 4kg better off. Karl Neisius has not ridden a bad race on the filly and is booked to ride her again.
Badger’s Cove is another with tons of ability but appears just short of top class. She finished second, beaten 2.50 lengths by Lady Windermerein the Sceptre Stakes over this course and distance last month and then ran 1.15 lengths off Joshua’s Mistress in the Listed Laisserfaire Stakes over 1100m.
She suffered some interference in her last start over 1400m on J&B Met day but that 2.60-length fifth behind Cocoa Beach was a little disappointing. She will probably prefer this 1200m and will get a wealth of help from the saddle with Andrew Fortune aboard.
Water Is Gold could be the best outsider. Trainer Stan Elley has a high regard for this daughter of Rich Man’s Gold and her form is solid. After winning two races in a row, she led for much of the journey before fading to finish 8.60 lengths behind Dancer’s Daughter in the Victress Stakes.
She had little chance in the race won by Cocoa Beach as she jumped from draw No 14 and was a long way back when heads turned for home. She still made up ground to finish just 4.40 lengths behind the winner. She shows good pace and must be included in Pick 6 and Jackpot permutations

R1 no real fancy
R2 Western Baby come home lonely
R3 Noble House
R4 My Lady Bluff will kill this mob if repeating its latest
R5 wide open
R6 Miss Olympic - lightly raced, ran on well late a month ago
R7 Royal Dominion looks well weighted with 53.5, and 10/1 is a nice e/way price.
R8 Flying West too good
