Frodo, that's exactly what I used and everything was just fine. I clicked on sales results on the home page, and then clicked on Vintage Yearling Sale results and....voila! A price list.

Unless I got lucky and found a gap when the website was working, are you sure the problem isn't on your side? Mind you, what I know about these things is dangerous, so I'd better shut up!

Thanks Magic, I get a different (new?) home page from the one I used to get a couple of weeks ago; the page downloads 'with errors' and then when I click on anything including Sales Results, I get 'Error on page'.

Does anyone else have the same problem? (I am using Internet Explorer as a browser)

Yes, Frodo, the home page appears to have changed in the last couple of weeks, but I got no error messages of any sort when I downloaded the results this morning. Don't ask me what kind of a browser we have at Winning Form, though. I wouldn't know Mozilla firefox from a mozarella sandwich.

Thanks again Magic, was able to view the results on my home PC (also using Internet Explorer) so not sure what the problem could be on this notebook I am using to post.

Some interesting prices, not least of all the 140k paid for the 1/2 sister to Asylum Seeker by Fort Wood - I haven't seen the filly, but she must have some faults to go so 'cheap'.

I didn't look at that particular lot, Frodo, but anything with faults could be picked up pretty cheaply. Even some of the Jet Masters went for only five figure sums, including one for R40k if I remember. Mind you, she was very small (1st foal and all that).

The average price fell by more than 35 percent, which is typical in the new financial order.

Worldwide, sales that have a lot of quality are falling off 25 to 35 percent.

Lesser sales are falling up 42 to 60 percent.

This is reality in the last 5 months.

It is a buyers' market for the first time in a long time and I for one welcome the change.

I agree with Barry. I know breeders will hate me for saying this, especially as they are now being forced to sell horses at a loss which were conceived when times where good and stallion fees were by and large too steep. However, we are now paying the right prices for the stakes that we race for.

Magic,

I did an exercise between races held in 1974 and races held this year (35 years ago). Why 1974? A friend has an invoice from then :)

What I looked at Maiden Plate races and at a Grade 1 race, and at training fees of a top trainer then and now.

1. The Gr1 winner now earned 36x more than same race 35 years ago.

2. The Maiden winner earned 48x more now than 35 years ago.

3. Training fees is 44x higher than 35 years ago.
