Basil Marcus yard

I am told that Basil has more horses in his care than anyone else in the Cape. I am just wondering why he has had 275 runners this season and Bass 539,Ramsden 419 and Snaith 474.
He seems to still have his winners but this season only 34 out of 275 runners.
I notice too that he has not been able to hold down a stable jockey for any period of time and maybe this is contributing to his lack of success.
I believe Basil to be the consummate professional and the hardest worker of them all, but he needs to start delivering the goods

Basil's yard is full of unraced horses hence only the 275 runs this season. He has delivered "Jay Peg" a gold cup winner already in his short training career. Richard Fourie is his stable jockey again, and they are a great team.

Wow, Fourie is back. I never knew. Surprising as Basil's bigger clients got rid of him for 'stealing' the price on fancied runners.

Fourie and Marcus make a great time and with so few top jocks around one has to make allowances, I guess.
