Dancer's Daughter set for Durban July campaign

South Africa: Champion racemare Dancer's Daughter will be flown from Johannesburg to Durban on Monday afternoon to begin a campaign which trainer Justin Snaith hopes will result in a second success in the Durban July, the country's most prestigious race.

Snaith cut short her Johannesburg campaign after the British-bred mare damaged a splint bone on her near-fore.
But she had already defied convention by overcoming the change in altitude to win the Grade 1 Empress Club Stakes at Turffontein.

Snaith said: "She is in good form and it will be a lot easier for her going from Jo'burg back to sea level in Durban than it was going from Cape Town to Jo'burg.

"Her two main targets are the Gold Challenge at Clairwood on June 13 and the Durban July at Greyville on July 4.

"She will have a run first but I am not yet sure when that will be.It's not easy to find the right race over the right distance with her high rating."
