Rei Rei back with a bang in the Poinsettia Stakes at Clairwood yesterday.

As always in the soft, excuses for many but not Rei Rei who thumped top class opposition yesterday in the Poinsettia Stakes to win going away by 2.75 lengths.

Coincidentally, the last time she saw the winner’s enclosure was exactly one year ago to the day (26-04-08) where she pulled an eerily similar move in the SA Fillies Guineas, exploding out the pack to win going away by the same 2.75 length margin! That was the last flash of brilliance.. until yesterday and if she can keep on track, this is a champion filly in the making and should be followed against anything.

A very good filly on her day, but to use the word 'champion' is laughable, as is the assertion that she should be 'followed against anything'.

She has won 4 of 20, and is yet to win a Gr1.
Perhaps if we only raced in April she would be a champion, as her last three wins have come in this month, with a year of defeats in between.

Leon, you are insane.I agree with dr who.This filly has not beaten anything of note and to class her a champion.You are losing the plot.Dont quit your day job.

I personally think the snaith horse - Sparkling Gem - will improve lengths and should not be discounted after that run

Mr H... I agree. When I saw it going down (sparkling gem) I was confused by the betting. She looked like she needs a run or two... or at least some hard work. And for the record I backed Rei Rei .... I always rated her as a sprinter,not mad about the stable though... my opinion only
