Pocket Power - the captain
16 years 3 months ago
I know his a copy and paste but its a good one at that!!!!!
Champion Season – For racing enthusiasts, this is what we’ve all been waiting for, South African racing at its best. The Mike Bass cavalry have settled in well and we are looking forward to this season with great anticipation. This year Mike trains a squad of 28. The captain - Pocket Power.
Ironically this year, Pocket Power has been stabled in Jet Master’s old box. Coincidently, I might add. We have been moved from our usual Clairwood stabling facility, and this year found ourselves in Geoff Woodruffs old barns. Pocket Power has found his way into the very box that stabled his great Sire. Fate?, destiny?, who knows? What I can tell you is that he is doing just fine. His mission will be the Durban July, as we know, he has a certain score to settle!
His programme has recently been changed. Previously his opening outing in KZN was going to be in the Drill Hall, but after a long rest this would always have been very early for him and was never going to suit his programme. Gold Circle have just included an additional race on the 24th of may, an ordinary pinnacle stakes over 1450m aimed at horses with higher merit ratings. However, the problem may be to fill up the field but it works out well falling just 3 weeks before the Gold Challenge.
After an early Cape Winter this year his coat has grown wintery very quickly, and he along with a few others have been clipped.
