Jet Master in a different div - upgrades mares just by looking at them!!

Let me say that i think Jet Master is top class but if you compare Captain Al costs vs JM costs and their records. JM over rated on that basis.

Once again Sylvester, you are wrong, because what you have failed to take into consideration is the value of the stock produced by Jet Master. In the end, racing is not about prize money vs. expenses, it is about the increased value of the animal in most instances.

Look at Rachel Alexandra: she has now won $1.6 million, but she cost $10 million!

Only in instances where a horse like Jay Peg wins the Dubai Duty Free and earns more in the purse than he is probably worth does prize money come into the equation.

The business of breeding and racing top-class horses is about asset appreciation, not the nuts and bolts of prize money vs. expenses.

Extreme well put Barry.
There's not much more that can be added to your response other than to say that Jetmaster and the word "under-rated" just would never be able to go together.

No disrespect to Captain Al is intended...he's doing more than his bit to enhance South African racing/breeding but as well as he's been doing, he's still some way off Jetmaster.
I tend to place Captain Al in the same category as Al Mufti...equally successful as a sire but not quite in the same league as Jetmaster.

I like Captain Al.

I have bought them at the sales every year, bred to him last year and will breed to him again this year.

He gets a wonderful model of a horse.

Barry what you say re value of a horse is probably the best statement Ive read in a very long time re horses.

Thank you for putting it into perspective again for me!

Have a question?

No 2 year old Jet Master' yet.
No Three year Old' yesterday in the big features. a 4th in the fillies.

When do they race?

Bar the two running here and the two that went overseas still waiting.

Sylvester, I wish you had started this thread earlier, because The Devines would have had to lower the stud fee and all of those breeding to him could have saved a lot of money!
