J J The Jet Plane warmed up for Royal Ascot with a fine display at Windsor under Ryan Moore.
The South African raider, trained by Mike de Kock, was smartly away from the stalls and took up the prime position at the head of affairs by the stands' rail.
He was asked for an effort inside the final two furlongs and looked for a moment like he was going to have to dig deep but the 4/7 favourite responded strongly and was well on top at the line and scored by four lengths.
Intrepid Jack emerged from the pack to take second place while the winner was cut to as low as 4/1 by William Hill for the Golden Jubilee Stakes.
De Kock said: "I'm relieved to get the win under his belt. It's lucky there was a race for him here (before Ascot) - I didn't want to run him with the travelling but it became apparent he needed a run, and he's kicked on in a fairly competitive field.
"I'm very happy with him, he's not had a big blow but this will certainly do him the world of good.
"We'll keep him fresh, sound and happy and look forward to the race, it looks a massive race with the international competition.
"He's a real contender. It's fantastic for us and fantastic for South African racing. The July Cup would be on the agenda if all went well at Royal Ascot.
"I didn't want to tie Ryan down with instructions, he'd seen him in Dubai and we thought he would land running in front and thank goodness it went really well."

So easy for JJ, he was on his toes in the pre-parade ring and parade ring, and still looked fresh after the race.
Took a few pics, quality not the best as was camera phone.
Thanks for the pic of Jamster Dave, can't recall seeing him but was really busy tonight! Lot's of lovely fillies enjoying the warm wsunny weather.

Great stuff, I watched Attheraces and there really was a great South African theme. JJ has been hyped up for his Windsor prep for the last 10 days in the racing media. John McCririck was in good form and there was great banter with MDK. I think the Poms really respect him for giving his horses a go in their back yard.
What really caught my eye was the crowd, on a Monday night Windsor was packed, unbelievable really and whatever we say about the toffs they sure know how to support an event.

no prob Dave. I don't think MdK could have asked for a better prep run from JJ, they took their time getting him saddled up, kept him nice and relaxed, I think he'll be a tough horse to beat at Ascot IMHO.
Next time Jamster! Hope you had a good evening in the sun, the Pimms was flowing amongst the crowds!

How would JJ perform in the mud, IF the going is such at Ascot?
