Hmmmm, Stan Elley should snap up Striker to ride Kapil . I reckon he will suit the horse to the ground.

He(Strydom) is probably waiting to see how it goes on Saturday before commiting.
Note the cleverer trainers have secured the decent lightweights early.

For the July this year I strongly fancy an afternoon in front of the telly. I have been to this meeting several times and the highlights are the 13th race and the after party. As for the horse racing you cannot get near the bookies, the tote is clogged up with first time punters, the food is usually cold and the beer warm. The parade ring is a nighmare to get to. Last visit a friend had her bag stolen and security were not interested.
Get your bets on early as on the day of the race everything shortens in the betting. It is a bookies paradise to lay a book as there is money for everything.
As a spectacle it is a great event but not if you want to bet. Rather stay at home.
As to the race itself, it is a short handicap and Pocket Power looks thrown in.

Just like the Met its a day loved by the public, not neccessarily by racing people.
As for Zirconeum, it certainly looks like she will run,as Delpech has been declared.

I strongly feel aluminium is the big danger to Pocket Power provided the draw he gets is good.... River Jetez is great but her brother better.
That settles it for me -
Quartet: Pocket Power/ Aluminium / Smart banker,river Jetez,big city life,Thandolwami / Smart banker,river Jetez,big city life,Thandolwami

I sit here thinking back to the 2007 Vodacom July when Hunting Tower won and I had my money on Royal Air force,Jagged Ice and Sun Classique(that was the first time I punted) and my mate, who by the way does not share tips or preferences, had put R2000 on Hunting Tower to win the first thing in the morning on July Day. He based his bet on a phone call his dad received in the morning from some connections of his.And come end of the race, HT won and so did my friend and his dad and brother, and a handsome amount at that.
The reason why i bring this up, i was looking at the form from that race and draws etc after looking at the draws for this year.... And what struck me the most was, HT last won a race 6 months before that win, in fact he was out of the money in his previous 4 starts and I mean way out. NOW HOW ON THIS GREEN AND BLUE EARTH DOES ONE BACK A HORSE AFTER FORM LIKE THAT!!!!! Tips from stables????? In this case sure.... But I read form and so does everyone else, and the common banter amongst punters is he beat this one by so many lengths and his weight was this so today he cant lose and what happens he...... My point is, do we read too much into form or forget that what we are given is about 45% of the required information to choose correctly and just give up and watch for enjoyment. The latter is a favorite past time when the pocket is drier than the namib desert.
Are we using the info given in formlines wrong or what is it? Maybe he had the best 400 to finish time in his previous rac who knows.
Will the same thing happen this year? i hope not ( my money is long time gone on PP).
Pocket Power to definately win it. just for interest, my same mate put a R5000 on him to win. Its not what you know, its who you know I think.
